MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

To give you the skills to excel in your role as a manager and develop further business, we provide tailored training to enhance your performance. For lawyers, relevant courses attract SRA authorised CPD points.

Each course listed below is for 3 hours CPD, with the exception of the Management Stage One compulsory course, which is 7 hours CPD.

BARRISTERS

QC Application Interview Training
If you have been selected to an interview following your QC application, we provide specific behavioural interview training to prepare your for the interview.   Please telephone us on 01666 505051 or e-mail stephanie.dale@cpd-uk.co.uk to discuss content and format of the interview.  Ideally, you will benefit most by receiving the training a week before the interview to give you sufficient preparation time.

Management Course Stage One is the SRA compulsory management training course which all solicitors below 3 years PQE must attend. It also satisfies the training requirements for Code of Conduct Rule 5 (supervision of a practice).  It is a useful course for more senior lawyers who may not previously have had management training and it gives an introduction to core management training techniques.

Aims This course will build on delegates’ skills of managing client relationships, building and managing their own team and using communicating and influencing skills to give advice and gain co-operation.

Objectives: By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:                               

MANAGE CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS (2 hrs)                           
* Build trust, assure quality and develop good working relations with clients
* Establish and agree client requirements
* Meet clients’ expectations and instructions
* Understand reasons why clients complain
* Know how to handle complaints effectively  

RECRUIT, MANAGE, DEVELOP & EVALUATE YOUR TEAM (2.5 hrs)
*  Understand the benefits of equal opportunities
*  Recruit and interview staff
*  Develop teams, individuals and oneself
*  Improve skills of delegation
*  Set objectives
*  Give feedback
*  Build good working relations with those around you  

COMMUNICATE INFORMATION & GAIN CO-OPERATION (2.5 hrs)
*  Develop a communication strategy
*  Gather and evaluate information
*  Communicate persuasively: tips for influencing others
*  Build good relationships with colleagues
*  Present information according to the audience
